Ten Tips on how to develop resilience:

  1. Keep an open mindset to change and remember that change can create opportunity
  2. Find techniques that help you manage stress, for example, exercise
  3. Practice controlled breathing exercises
  4. Make lists if you feel overwhelmed
  5. Progressive muscle relaxation
  6. Positive Imagery
  7. Build social networks by joining community groups eg. sporting clubs
  8. When dealing with insurmountable challenges, rationalise by using this sentence: “what is the worst that can happen?”
  9. Maintain a hopeful outlook by focussing on positive things
  10. Spend time with positive and more optimistic people
