The How: Resilience

The How: Resilience

Last week Benesse Group presented a session on resilience at the Scanlon Richardson and Elevate Wealth annual conference in Hobart In one of our breakout groups the participants learnt about grit and how to develop resilience. Scanlon Richardson and Elevate Wealth are forward thinkers in the accounting and financial planning industries. They know that their employees are their best asset and are continually encouraging employee wellness.

“Bronwyn ran a session on resilience at our conference last week. She helped our team learn new skills on how to develop resilience. The content was interesting, practical and everyone had a chance to participate”

Matthew Hawkins, Director, Elevate Wealth

GRIT

GRIT

What is grit? Well, according to Angela Duckworth, grit is the motivational drive that keeps
you on a difficult task over a sustained period of time. It is similar to resilience. Think of it like this, grit is about persevering and resilience is about bouncing back.

Look after your staff!

Look after your staff!

It continues to amaze me that organisations continue to expect their staff to perform their duties well without the proper training and ongoing development. Guess what??? Good staff end up leaving. This post is to remind you as a manager or business owner that you need to make time for your staff.

Let’s talk about resilience

Let’s talk about resilience

It seems that many people in organisations are talking about resilience. When I speak to my clients such as business owners, leaders and staff, I find there is a common theme; they are talking about resilience, asking exactly what it is and how greater resilience can be achieved. It appears there is a great need to help people cope with the ever increasing demands which are placed on them.

Getting back to basics

Getting back to basics

Think of someone you know that seems to have every facet of their life working well. What is it that they do to be so successful at everything? The secret is that they continually strive to be the best they can, they like to challenge themselves and most importantly they set goals. This article will remind you of what you need to do when setting goals.

Find out what your strengths are

Find out what your strengths are

Most of us have heard the saying “it’s like fitting a square peg into a round hole”. Additionally, we have either worked with people in roles that don’t match their strengths or perhaps experienced this ourselves. I recall a time years ago when I worked in the technical team of a large organisation. I stuck at it for 18 months and no matter how hard I tried I just didn’t gel with the tasks that were required of me. I ended up leaving (with my tail between my) legs and found another role which did suit my strengths.
